1948 Audemars Piguet Precision Replica Watches with Observatory Dial and Valjoux Caliber 13VZAS

Of the thousands of AAA UK fake watches I saw at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show last month, this simple, seemingly plain, and almost uninteresting Audemars Piguet is the one I still think about weeks later. Those descriptors might have you scrolling to the next watch, but please give me a moment to tell you why this AP is so special. While this has been stated elsewhere for years, I do not think collectors today appreciate just how incredible real-deal vintage high quality Audemars Piguet replica watches are.

Prior to 1951, every watch the brand produced was essentially a piece unique; no two were the same, and when references were made in series, each had slight differences. And these luxury copy watches are rare. Consider all of the Patek chronograph references we find produced in the 1940s and that AP produced only 307 before 1951. Or think of Patek perpetual calendars (1518, 1526, 2497), of which 688 watches were produced– Audemars Piguet made nine perpetual calendars in the same period.

While that comparison may come off as more of a testament to Patek, the simple fact that AP was producing complicated wristwatches at this time is incredible. Comparing any brand to mid-century Patek is a tall task. Vacheron, for example, produced zero perpetual calendar wristwatches in the same span. Obviously, the top 2025 replica watches we are looking at today is time-only, but all of this adds context to what you are looking at. This isn’t just a cool vintage watch from a Holy Trinity brand; this is an incredibly rare, incredibly well-made watch from the only brand of the three that was both pushing itself horologically and not producing hundreds of every reference it created.

Nearly all of the above Audemars Piguet complications were produced using the same movement blank– the Valjoux-supplied 13VZ. The same is true for Patek’s 1518s, 2499s, and the legendary J.B. Champion observatory wristwatch. The Precision 13VZAS we have here today is an Audemars competitor to something like the J.B. Champion. While not exactly the same, as there is no known record of this particular movement being entered into observatory chronometer trials (as is the case with the Patek), the ethos of both is identical. Observatory wristwatches were essentially the ultimate time-only movements created by a brand, produced to the highest standards of timekeeping and finishing. And that is all on full display in this 1:1 China Audemars Piguet super clone watches. Without going too deep, admire the wide-set Geneva stripes, similar possibly only to Philippe Dufour’s Simplicity (because Dufour cites the 13VZ as a finishing reference).

This example, housed in a 32mm stainless steel case, sold at Christie’s in 2021 for CHF 106,250, smashing its estimate of CHF 12,000 to CHF 28,000. The seller, Adam Golden of Menta Watches in Miami, has listed this incredible Audemars Piguet on his website for $135,000.

1942 Patek Philippe Ref. 1486 Fake Watches in Rose Gold with Box and Papers

Back in October, I featured vintage Patek Philippe replica watches for sale here on Bring A Loupe that I described as “cube-esque,” the ref. 1485. This, one number higher, is the sister reference. Equally as cube-esque, the ref. 1486 features hooded lugs and was produced in gold, whereas the 1485 has intriguingly round lugs and is only found in stainless steel. While a bit confusing, it’s hard not to describe these two references as a pair. Both feature the same case construction, one of my favorite quirky technologies ever produced in the watch world.

So long as this isn’t your first time reading one of my weekly columns, you may have noticed my love of mid-century water-resistant cases, particularly those produced by the casemaker François Borgel. The case here is, of course, made by Borgel, utilizing a design that was patented in 1939. Basically, the caseback and bezel form the two main sections of the case, while three sliding and locking strips on the sides squeeze everything together. Thanks to the outstanding condition of this ref. 1486, we can see the clearly defined notches on the case sides used for sliding these strips.

With the rising interest in pre-1960 Patek, quirky references like this have seen a bit of a price increase over the past couple of years. That said, a great ref. 1486 has not come up for sale in a long, long time, by my count. In fact, the world record price for this reference was set at auction in 1999. Due to rarity and a lack of great examples, this particular Swiss made Patek Philippe fake watches has not ticked up along with the market. At 27mm wide by 37mm tall with the lugs, wrist presence is quite nice with the ref. 1486, I find it extremely wearable.

This particular ref. 1486 is likely the nicest example ever to come to market. It is “pink on pink” with a rose gold case and a rose gold-tone “silvered” dial, confirmed by the Extract. The cherry on top of it all is the presence of the original box and papers. Check out the crispness of the hallmarks on the case. It doesn’t get much better than this for vintage perfect copy Patek Philippe watches UK.

The seller, Ignacio, and the team over at Ancienne in Barcelona have listed this great Patek on their website for €12,000.
